We would like to introduce you to one of our 10 Week Web Development Program students, Barbara Karpf. Barbara is a student and participating in the First National Bank 10 week web developer training program.
Why did you join Interface School?
“I decided to join Interface School as a step towards starting a second career after staying home with my children for 12 years. I worked as a computer chip designer for my first career; I very much enjoyed the work, but my skills are no longer up to date and we’ve moved across the country, so returning to work in that field would be nearly impossible. I joined Interface School in an effort to gain competency in a new technical skill set that will allow me a chance at a second career.”
What have been the most inspiring and challenging aspects of the 10 week program?
What have you learned about yourself so far during the 10 week program?
“I’ve learned that I still love to learn and that I still enjoy coding.”
What are your career aspirations?
“I would like to be employed in a technical capacity that I find interesting. At this point in my life, I am open to any opportunity that meets that basic need.”
What is a hobby or talent of yours others may not know about?
“Most of my free time is spent with my family, so I suppose they are my main hobby right now. I have two boys, ages 10 and 11, and they keep me very busy! I do have an unusual love for children’s books and I’ve amassed quite a collection over the years; our children’s books have always been more my books than the boys! I also love to read aloud to children and have volunteered many times to read aloud at my boys’ schools.”
