AIM Careerlink and Interface Web School are congratulating our partners at Appsky Labs on a big win.
Appsky Labs CEO Taylor Korensky took away the top prize in the TS Bank Rev Pitch competition on December 1.
The competition gives local entrepreneurs the chance to win a cash prize to better their business.
Each business had 10 minutes to make a pitch to a four-judge panel.
“It was impressive to listen to these founders and hear about their passion and motivation to add value to the people around them,” Korensky said.
In his pitch, Korensky said he focused on highlighting problems that he sees clients facing. They include issues like expensive software costs, lack of technology resources for local business, and training junior developers after programs like Interface, or a four-year degree.
Competition helps local businesses grow, create jobs
He also talked about how Appsky Labs is addressing these needs by providing a fixed development rate at $66/hour, being involved in the community, and supporting underserved businesses through the unique partnership between AIM and Appsky Labs.
Korensky also highlighted Appsky’s process of training junior developers and helping them build a portfolio.
Finally, he talked about goals the company has to grow over the next five years. Korensky says the prize money will go a long way to reaching those goals.
“It will go to building and furnishing our new retail style office that will be open in a few weeks, and will also allow us to expand our team,” he said.
Korensky said it was good to see the company’s vision and mission validated by prominent members of the business community from Iowa and Nebraska.
“It was amazing to see that. I have been working on the business model, validating with clients, testing and trying for the last three years, implementing for one full year, and it is amazing to see it come to life,” Korensky said. “I truly have to thank my team for the incredible effort and passion in pushing through and making Appsky Labs a success. I cannot wait to see what we can do next year!”
TS Bank created the REV competition in 2015 to help local businesses grow and create local jobs.
Korensky founded Appsky Labs in November 2016. The company now employs six people and will be hiring two more in the next three months.
